VOCI
{choir}
VOCI, pronounced VO-Chee, an Italian word meaning many voices, is dedicated to engaging adults in the performance of choral and vocal works in various genres here and abroad. Beginning in 1939, and then known as Canton Civic Opera, VOCI has been performing opera, operettas, musicals, major works, madrigals and musical reviews for 70 seasons.

Loren C. Veigel
DirectorLoren Veigel, Director, adult chorus, is the current music
leader in the long and rich history of Voci. A native of Massillon,
Ohio, Mr. Veigel served thirty-one years in secondary choral music
education. A graduate of Mount Union College, he earned a Bachelor of
Music Education degree, studying choral music with Cecil Stewart and
Bruce Browne. |

His graduate mentors include Paul Christiansen and
Rodney Eichenberger. Veigel received a Master of Music in Choral
Conducting from the University of Arizona, where he studied with
Maurice Skones.
Mr. Veigel’s choirs have performed in many states throughout the US,
Canada and Europe.
Loren founded the Walsh University Chorale, serving there for more
than five years, and is presently employed by the University of
Akron, where he works with vocal music student teachers and teaches
graduate secondary choral methods. A member of the American Guild of
Organists, Mr. Veigel served as choirmaster and organist at St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church in Massillon. |
